Donkeys and Goats
Cruising the twisty roads of St. John, you will occasionally have to stop to avoid hitting feral donkeys in your path. The donkeys were originally brought to the island by the Danish in the 1700’s to transport material for the sugar cane industry. I think these pictures were taken on Centerline Road near Coral Bay. It’s amazing how sure footed these guys are. They have no fear browsing the grasses along the narrow and steep inclines outside the roadside barrier walls.
